Job summary

Rivercell is seeking a Senior Thin-film Materials Engineer to own the inorganic material stack for our platform. You will merge materials science, deposition-process engineering, device physics, and reliability to develop photoconductors and dielectric layers, while optimizing interfaces and multilayer architectures for scalable fabrication.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across biotech, AI, optics, and electronics, contributing to an ambitious startup from its inception.

Qualifications

• PhD in materials science, applied physics, semiconductor engineering, electrical engineering, microelectronics, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on deposition, characterization, and process optimization in semiconductor/dielectric thin films.
• Understanding of how material properties and interfaces affect device performance.
• Autonomous, curious, and engineering-minded with emphasis on reproducibility and reliability.
• Excellent communication; English fluent; French helpful but not required.
• Experience with PECVD, ALD, sputtering, PVD, or related thin-film processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize inorganic material stacks including photoconductors and dielectrics.
• Translate chip-level requirements into conductivity, ON/OFF, spectral response, capacitance, leakage, and reliability specs.
• Characterize electrical, optical, and structural properties using FTIR, ellipsometry, profilometry, and spectroscopy.
• Plan and execute structured development campaigns with internal labs and external partners.
• Transfer processes to scalable fabrication equipment; ensure repeatability and reliability.
