Job summary

SAP is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer (M/F) to own the full development lifecycle of distributed systems powering SAP's database cloud platform. Based in Paris, Levallois-Perret, the role combines design, implementation, and leadership in a hybrid work model.

You will design scalable data processing components, build high-throughput APIs, and drive engineering best practices while collaborating with experienced teams.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in distributed systems design including concurrency and scheduling.

• Proficiency in Java for production-grade software development.
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes across private/public clouds (AWS/Azure/GCP).

What you'll bring

You bring deep expertise in distributed systems and scalable data platforms. Your technical foundation and systems thinking equip you to build complex, high-performance infrastructure at cloud scale.

• Strong grasp of distributed systems design — concurrency, parallelization, consensus, scheduling, and resource management — applied in multithreaded production environments
• Hands-on experience building scalable microservices and high-throughput APIs for data processing platforms
• Proficiency in Java for production-grade software development
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes across private and public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Knowledge of distributed file systems — S3, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), or HDFS — and of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) in database or data management platforms
• A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
