Senior Program Manager – Large Transformation

Role: Program Manager
Technology: Program Management, Large Transformation, IT
Location: Lyon, France
Compensation: Competitive (including bonus)

Profile Summary

The Program Director is a strategic and results-oriented leader responsible for orchestrating the delivery of large-scale, complex, and transformative IT/Technology programs that span multiple business units and client organizations. A critical component of this role is managing and influencing stakeholders at the highest levels within the client organization (C-suite), ensuring alignment and navigating complex organizational dynamics. As a strategic partner, this role champions comprehensive planning, best-in-class execution, and robust governance to deliver significant business outcomes for the client. The director must own the overall program success, from presales and strategic planning to flawless execution and benefits realization.

Scope of Responsibilities
  • Client and stakeholder management (C-suite level): Establish trusted advisor status, serve as the primary, C-suite-facing point of contact for the client, building and nurturing a strategic, long-term relationship based on transparency and value delivery.
  • Align and influence: Lead executive steering committee meetings, workshops, and business reviews, influencing decisions and ensuring sustained alignment with the client's evolving business priorities and digital strategy.
  • Proactive issue and risk communication: Manage and communicate program risks, issues, and progress to executive stakeholders with a “no surprises” approach, presenting clear options and recommendations for resolution.
  • Translate technical to strategic: Act as the bridge between the service provider’s delivery teams and the client's executive leadership, articulating complex IT programs and their impact in terms of business value, ROI, and strategic objectives.
  • Own end-to-end program lifecycle: Take full ownership of the entire program, from defining the strategic roadmap and vision during the presales and discovery phase through final delivery and benefits measurement.
  • Orchestrate complex delivery: Lead the coordination of multiple, interconnected projects, workstreams, and delivery teams, including those specializing in areas such as cloud migration, enterprise applications, and AI/GenAI.
  • Manage contractual obligations: Ensure all deliverables, milestones, and scope are met according to the Statement of Work (SOW) and that any deviations are managed through a formal change control process.
  • Develop, implement, and refine business strategies to expand consulting and services revenue, positioning the organization for long-term growth.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, integrating innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Drive transformation, not just delivery: Focus on the “how” and “why” of the technology, ensuring that the IT program truly transforms the client’s business processes, technology landscape, and operational capabilities.
  • Manage program P&L: Oversee the large-scale program budget, revenue, and profitability, making data-driven decisions to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Negotiate and manage scope: Expertly manage scope, budget, and contract negotiations, effectively balancing client expectations with the service provider’s commercial interests.
  • Identify growth opportunities: Actively identify and pursue new business and expansion opportunities within the client account, contributing directly to the service provider’s revenue growth.
  • Build a high-performance team: Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse and geographically dispersed team of program and project managers, business analysts, and architects.
  • Ensure delivery excellence: Establish robust program governance, communication structures, and quality assurance processes, holding all teams accountable for delivering high-quality, measurable outcomes.
  • Drive cultural change: Cultivate a collaborative, innovative, and client-centric culture within the program team with a strong Continuous Improvement mindset.
Education and experience
  • Relevant certifications such as Program Management Professional (PgMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are a plus.
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in IT program management, with a minimum of 5+ years of direct experience with a top-tier IT service provider.
  • Demonstrable history of successfully delivering large-scale, multi-year, and transformational IT programs for external enterprise clients.
Key skills
  • IT transformation expertise: Deep understanding of digital transformation trends, enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, data analytics, and Agile/DevOps methodologies.
  • Executive communication: Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities, with a track record of successfully engaging C-level audiences.
  • Team leadership: Demonstrated ability to inspire teams and drive transformation.
  • Strategic business mindset: Ability to understand the client’s business model and industry to align IT delivery with their strategic goals. Excellent knowledge of at least one industry domain and/or IT stack.
  • Conflict and negotiation: Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, particularly in managing competing priorities and complex client relationships.
  • Business development: Driving revenue growth within and outside the immediate client organization and across consulting/services organizations.
Nice to have
  • Working knowledge of designing and implementing AI solutions
  • Core concepts of the SRE approach to managing IT operations
Personal
  • High analytical skills
  • A high degree of initiative and flexibility
