This role owns the self-serve product for small and mid-sized online brands, including the roadmap, the problems worth solving, and how features reach users. A strong candidate has five or more years in product management, has launched B2B self-serve software, and can explain what they personally owned and what results followed. Comfort pulling and reading data alone, plus regular talks with sellers, matters as much as polish in the craft.
Much of the work is turning new model abilities from researchers into features that sellers actually want to use. AI tools also take over routine PM tasks such as prototyping, user testing prep and ticket writing, which leaves more room for strategy. Judgment about what is worth building, taste in visual quality, and trust built through seller conversations stay human.
Working beside AI researchers at a company that edits and generates product images at large scale gives close exposure to how image models become real features. Experience would grow in judging output quality, picking use cases, and measuring whether a new capability lifts usage. Someone preparing could use an AI assistant daily for prototypes and research, and try the product with a small online shop's catalog in mind.
