Alan is building the backend platform for a growing global health tech company. You will help transform a Python monolith into scalable services while production keeps running. You will own the backend building blocks, set rules, and empower product teams to use them autonomously.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering with production ownership.
• Distributed systems with events, messaging, data replication.
• PostgreSQL in depth: transactions, locks, replication.
• Experience splitting a monolith or building services while live.
• Measure before you optimise and set SLOs/alerts.
• English working proficiency; French is not required.

Responsibilities

• Own the events pipeline across components and services.
• Drive data replication between services for freshness.
• Shape the move from monolith to scalable services.
• Define the shared runtime: queues, cache and transaction layer.
• Set backend direction and rules for Alan’s teams.
