Alta Ares in Toulouse is seeking a Senior Jet Engine Design Engineer to lead development of small-scale jet propulsion systems (12-25 kg thrust) from concept to flight-ready hardware. This hands-on, high-ownership role thrives in a fast-moving startup where speed and iteration matter.

You will own aerodynamic turbine design, apply DFAM for metal 3D printing, and work closely with 3D printing operations to qualify parts for flight.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in jet engine/gas turbine design.
• Experience designing jet engines in the 12-25 kg thrust class.
• Strong understanding of jet engine architecture and integration with airframes.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop new small jet engines (12-25 kg thrust) in-house with low production cost.
• Own aerodynamic design of turbine components balancing performance, manufacturability, and cost.
• Lead design for metal additive manufacturing (DfAM) to reduce part count, weight and cost.
• Collaborate with 3D printing ops to define printable geometries, tolerances, and flight-qualifiable parts.
• Drive rapid iteration – build, test, learn, and redesign quickly.
