We are at the very beginning of an ambitious propulsion program and are building our operations and supply chain from the ground up. We are looking for a pragmatic, rigorous Aerospace Engineer who loves the tangible side of manufacturing. In this key role, you will act as our technical bridge to the supply chain, identifying, qualifying, and engaging capable manufacturing partners for our critical engine parts, while owning the rigorous configuration control required as we transition from early prototypes to serial production.
Responsibilities
Supplier Technical Development & Oversight:
- Technical Interface: Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing processes to identify, evaluate, and pre-qualify external partners capable of producing complex aerospace propulsion parts.
- Make-to-Print & Process Control: Ensure suppliers fully master manufacturing processes (machining, special processes, welding/treatments) and oversee critical hardware inspections to guarantee strict design compliance.
- Manufacturing Support: Work hand-in-hand with external partners to resolve technical bottlenecks, manage non-conformances, and secure on-time delivery for prototype and test components.
Configuration Management & Baseline Control:
- Establish and maintain robust configuration management across all engine variants and assemblies.
- Ensure seamless tracking of design changes, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) from early prototype phases onward.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with design engineering and quality assurance to align configuration baselines with rigorous aerospace standards.
Profile
- Willingness to Travel: Frequent on-site visits to manufacturing partners and suppliers to audit processes, inspect critical parts, and drive quality right at the source.
- Uncompromising Rigor in Configuration Control: Absolute precision and meticulous attention to detail to act as the ultimate guarantor of configuration baselines, traceability, and engineering change management.
- Pragmatic & Structured: You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where you can build scalable processes from scratch rather than just follow legacy frameworks.
- Shop-Floor Acumen: A natural curiosity for manufacturing methods, tooling, and process validation.
