Job summary

Mistral is seeking a Senior Data Center Hardware Engineer (L4-L5) based in the Paris region. You will own high-skill hardware interventions across our sites, from full-rack deployments to multi-node troubleshooting, while mentoring engineers and driving SOPs and automation.

You will collaborate with facilities, manage vendor relationships, and ensure reliability as our compute footprint grows, with hands-on leadership and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data center or server hardware with production experience (HPC/AI/cloud scale preferred).
• End-to-end hardware expertise: CPU/memory/PCIe, NICs, PSUs, drives, network, power and cooling interfaces, strong escalation judgment.
• Diagnostics depth: comfortable with BMC/IPMI logs, Linux logs and CLI checks; structured root-cause analysis.
• Deployment experience: taken racks from delivery to production with tangible outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex vendor-level multi-node interventions in production: full rack builds and bring-up, GPU-dense platform deployments, intricate recabling, post-restart diagnosis.
• Own vendor management: coordinate repairs and escalations with hardware vendors; enforce SLAs; drive fixes from failure trends.
• Diagnose at depth: correlate symptoms across compute/storage/interconnect/cooling; read logs and perform root-cause analysis.
• Deploy and validate: bring-up and validate new racks; collaborate with networking and infra teams to reach production readiness.
• Lift the team: mentor L1–L3 engineers; create SOPs, checklists, training; develop automation (Python/Bash) to shorten MTTR.
• Work the facility interface: coordinate with facilities/engineering on power, cooling, PDU, monitoring; enforce safety and change discipline.
• Own spares & reliability: plan spares, track failures, proactive vendor actions.
