Nokia is seeking a Coherent Optical System Architect to join our Optical Systems Group (OSG). You will lead optical design, characterization, and optimization for next-generation coherent MODems using PICs and high-speed electronics.

Responsibilities include operating the optical testbed, pushing baud rates, and presenting performance specifications. Collaboration with control/ firmware teams and potential customer-facing work are part of the role.

Qualifications

• PhD with minimum 3 years industrial experience in optical communications or photonics.
• Fundamental understanding of optical communication systems and DWDM.
• Hands-on experience with system-level optical hardware.
• Coherent communications experience with QPSK/16QAM/64QAM and FEC.
• Experience characterizing RF/mm-wave interconnects and ENOB.
• Experience with high-speed optical/electrical test equipment and data acquisition.
• Programming knowledge in Matlab, Python, VB.net, or C.

Responsabilités

• Own the optical testbed for next-generation coherent platforms and analyze experimental data.
• Push optical systems to higher baud rates and optimize design parameters.
• Capture coherent waveforms with high-speed instrumentation and assess BER under optical noise.
• Collaborate with control/firmware teams to optimize calibration, acquisition, monitoring.
• Document electrical and optical performance specs for future platforms.
