ESRF in Grenoble seeks a Beamline Technician to maintain and optimise ID15A and ID15B beamlines, collaborating with scientists, engineers and visiting researchers. You will diagnose faults, install new equipment and support users during experiments, ensuring safety and reliability.

Applicants should have a technical degree and around 5 years of hands‑on experience in precision mechanics, vacuum systems and instrumentation, with CAD/control systems knowledge being an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, instrumentation, mechatronics, physical measurements, or related discipline.
• Proven hands‑on experience in precision mechanics, instrumentation, vacuum systems, motion control or scientific equipment maintenance (~5 years).
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical and mechanical problems efficiently in a research environment.
• Experience with CAD, machining, control systems or laboratory instrumentation is advantageous.
• Good communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary, international teams.

Responsabilités

• Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance of beamline equipment.
• Diagnosing and repairing technical and mechanical faults.
• Installing, aligning, testing and commissioning new equipment.
• Providing technical and mechanical support to users during experiments.
• Coordinating inspections and maintenance with external suppliers and ESRF teams.
• Contributing to continuous improvement, reliability and performance of beamlines.
