CoW DAO is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to own our off-chain services and back-end systems. You will focus on Rust-based architectures, interact with Solidity contracts, and contribute to a high-scale DeFi platform.

You will collaborate with researchers and product teams, participate in on-call rotations, and help shape the next generation of decentralized trading infrastructure. Remote-friendly, Europe-focused, with strong growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of production experience with systems-level languages, including 3+ years with Rust.
• Experience in web3/DeFi and Ethereum ecosystem.
• Strong CS, programming, and algorithmic skills.
• Experience operating and architecting complex software systems.
• Care deeply about code quality, observability, and testability.
• Mentor or provide technical direction to teammates is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Architect and design off-chain services (core auction protocol and orderbook) to support growth.
• Work on concurrent Rust backend systems and interact with Solidity contracts.
• Participate in on-call rotation with additional compensation.
• Collaborate with researchers and product teams to ship features and solve technical challenges.
• Deliver high-quality code from concept to production with modern monitoring.
• Provide thoughtful code reviews for open-source contributions.
