Hostaway, a leading AI-powered vacation rental platform, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Core team. You will design, build, and operate backend services in PHP and Go, driving the extraction of services from our monolith and shaping APIs for AI-driven workflows.

Collaborate with Product to define technical direction, improve performance, and adopt AI coding tools to accelerate delivery. This is a fully remote role within the EMEA region with equity and country-specific benefits.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in PHP and Go, with willingness to work in both.
• Experience designing and operating high-traffic APIs (REST/GraphQL).
• Experience decomposing monoliths or extracting services.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS).
• Comfort with AI coding tools as part of daily workflow.

Responsabilités

• Design, build, and operate backend services in PHP and Go.
• Drive extraction of services from the monolith with clear ownership.
• Collaborate with Product to shape technical direction and value.
• Design and ship APIs for AI agent consumption and automation.
• Improve page speed and end-to-end performance with frontend peers.
• Contribute to high-level architectural decisions for rapid delivery.
