As an R&D Microbiology Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, executing, and scaling microbiology experiments that underpin the company’s core technology.

You will work cross-functionally with teams spanning data science, hardware, and product to translate experimental insights into robust, deployable solutions for industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

Experimental Design & Scientific Strategy

• Design and lead microbiology experiments aligned with product and platform development
• Define methodologies, set scientific direction, and ensure alignment with broader company objectives
• Analyse experimental data and translate findings into actionable insights
• Convert lab results into scalable, standardised protocols for industrial deployment
• Collaborate closely with data science and hardware teams to integrate biological insights into the platform

Project Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Lead R&D initiatives across multidisciplinary teams (biology, hardware, software, ML)
• Coordinate stakeholders and ensure delivery against ambitious timelines
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members

Quality, Compliance & Lab Excellence

• Implement scalable lab practices balancing scientific rigor with operational speed
• Ensure traceability, biosafety, and compliance standards are met
• Continuously improve processes, tools, and documentation to support growth

Profile

• PhD or Master’s degree in microbiology, biotechnology, or a related field
• 3+ years of hands-on R&D experience in an industrial or applied research environment
• Strong expertise in bacterial culture techniques, microbiological assays, and contamination monitoring
• Experience in food, pharma, or industrial biotech environments is highly advantageous
• Proven ability to lead scientific projects and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Strong analytical skills; experience with data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Python, or R) is a plus
• Familiarity with LIMS and digital lab systems is beneficial
• Excellent communication skills in French and English
• Proactive, autonomous, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment
