In order to support its research and innovation department, Aviwell is recruiting a highly talented Microbiology Laboratory Technician for a full-time position. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the platform for isolating and characterizing anaerobic bacteria, including upscaling production for animal studies and genomic sequencing. The candidate will be experienced in microbial isolation, cultivation, and characterization, and in preparation of general laboratory media and reagents, and general molecular biology procedures.

Summary of Job Responsibilities

• Perform procedures for culturing and isolating bacteria, including strict anaerobes, under a variety of growth conditions
• Prepare culture media (solid and liquid) and assist with scale-up for animal studies
• Follow established procedures for microbial library management, including sample traceability and data recording
• Conduct microbiology and bacterial physiology operations (e.g., OD monitoring, growth characterization)
• Perform molecular biology workflows: DNA extractions, PCR, electrophoresis, purification
• Prepare samples and DNA extracts for downstream analyses
• Maintain thorough records of experiments in an electronic laboratory notebook
• Apply and uphold laboratory health and safety regulations
• Participate in routine lab management (inventory, maintenance, ordering)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary and international team
• Present brief updates during internal team meetings on experimental work
