Mistral.ai is seeking a Research Engineer to design and harden code, tools, and distributed services for frontier-scale models. You will join the Research Software Engineering team to build dev-tools, evaluation pipelines, training framework, cluster tooling and CI/CD.

Location options include Paris, Warsaw, Zurich, London (hybrid) or remote EU/UK with monthly hub visits, reflecting our distributed, collaborative approach to AI development.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years building and operating large-scale or distributed systems.
• Fluency in Python plus one systems language (C++, Rust, Go or Java).

Responsabilités

• Own complex parts of large-scale pipelines and internal tooling.
• Interface research with product: expose APIs, automate model pushes, surface live metrics.
• Write Python and systems code; enforce CI/CD and observability.
• Design distributed services (Kubernetes / SLURM) for thousands-of-GPU jobs.
• Prototype utilities and carry them through to stable, shared libraries.
