Mistral AI seeks a talented software engineer for the Research Platform team to build a cloud-agnostic platform that enhances stability, scalability, and velocity across the research department. You will create tools empowering researchers to leverage high performance clusters, reporting to the Research Engineering, Platform Lead.

Location: Europe (France or UK). Collaboration with R&D, CI/CD, and data pipelines to enable researchers to run experiments efficiently and safely.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a DX / DevOps / SRE role.
• Proficiency in software development with Python, Go, and good coding practices.
• Experience in site reliability engineering: RCAs, in-production troubleshooting, on-call rotations.
• Experience in infrastructure management: CI/CD, containerization, orchestration, infra-as-code, monitoring, logging, alerting, observability.
• Technical product mindset: understanding adoption and feedback loops.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to gain buy-in for high-stakes solutions.
• Autonomy, ownership, and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Low ego and team-spirited approach.
• Nice-to-have: Bazel or equivalent, deep Python ecosystem, GPU workloads, and global remote collaboration.

Responsabilités

• Designing and implementing complex systems to scale the research CI with reliability and speed.
• Create flexible, accessible development environments for researchers to focus on core tasks.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and large data workloads.
• Optimize builds: container images, library compilation times, Python environments.
• Collaborate with researchers to understand workflows and improve tooling usage.
• Produce documentation and content to help users maximize tool impact.
• Platformize research processes and reduce roadblocks for daily lab activities.
