Ruby Labs is hiring a Database Engineer to own, scale, and evolve our data infrastructure for a high-volume payments environment. You will design schemas for large transactional domains, implement partitioning and indexing, and optimize queries to handle millions of records monthly.

Qualifications

• Production experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience managing large databases (hundreds of millions of rows)
• Strong understanding of indexing and query planning
• Experience with AWS-based infrastructure, especially AWS Aurora
• Ability to investigate and resolve complex performance issues

Responsabilités

• Own and operate AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL) in a high-load production environment
• Design and evolve schemas for large transactional domains (payments, customers, subscriptions, events)
• Implement and maintain partitioning, advanced indexing, and query optimization
• Ensure data integrity and reliability in financial workflows
• Collaborate with backend engineers and product teams on data layer support for transactional and analytical workloads
• Design high-performance search solutions for large datasets used in internal CRM tools
• Work with event and log data pipelines (Tinybird/ClickHouse) for analytics
• Plan and execute safe schema changes and migrations on large tables
• Participate in incident analysis related to data performance or availability
• Support backups, replication, and disaster-recovery strategies
