United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) invites applications for an IMEO Atmospheric Scientist consultant. The role focuses on data analysis and manuscript writing for methane science studies, with emphasis on coal sector inventories and MRV framework development.

Remote work for a 12-month duration is offered to advance the Global Methane Pledge efforts. Ideal candidates hold a doctorate in engineering or atmospheric science with at least 3 years of relevant experience and strong background

Qualifications

• Doctorate or equivalent in Engineering or Atmospheric Science.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Engineering or Atmospheric Science.
• Knowledge and research experience in air quality science; demonstrated expertise in emission inventories for GHG sources.

Responsabilités

• Provide data analysis and manuscript writing for methane science studies.
• Calculate inventory-based estimates at the mine level for coal mine methane sources.
• Support development of a Coal Mine Methane MRV framework.
• Develop a strategy for a global study on abandoned mine methane and report to the IMEO Science Studies Programme Manager.
