Job summary

CNRS in France seeks a First Stage Researcher to design and conduct experiments characterizing microalgae–bacteria interactions, including co-culture systems, under sterile conditions.

Responsibilities include generating and analyzing molecular, biochemical and physiological data, performing high-throughput RNA-seq analyses, and contributing to publications, with emphasis on data integration and epigenomic responses.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in culturing bacteria and microalgae under sterile conditions.
• Strong molecular biology skills including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, cloning and mutagenesis.
• Experience in protein and metabolite extraction/analysis and microscopy.
• Experience with physiological experiments and growth monitoring.
• Bioinformatics experience with high-throughput sequencing (RNA-seq) and multi-omics data.
• Ability to integrate diverse datasets and perform data-driven interpretation.
• Programming in R/Python (Linux) for data analysis and visualization.
• Excellent oral and written scientific communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments to characterize microalgae–bacteria interactions.
• Set up microbial and algal physiology experiments under controlled conditions.
• Generate and analyze molecular, biochemical and physiological data.
• Characterize molecular/metabolic mechanisms in microalgae–bacteria systems.
• Generate, process and integrate multi-omics datasets.
• Contribute to data interpretation, dissemination and publications.
• Ensure traceability and documentation of experimental data and protocols.
• Perform sterile cultures, DNA/RNA/protein/metabolite extractions.
• Perform PCR, qPCR, cloning, mutagenesis and transformation.
• Carry out high-throughput bioinformatics analyses (RNA-seq, assembly, metadata).
• Work with Leïla Tirichine and team on epigenomics research.
