Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or related field.
  • 3–5 years in Sales, Program Management, Customer Account Management, or Business Development in an industrial B2B environment.
  • Automotive industry experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Program Commercial Management: act as commercial lead for assigned customer programs during development.
  • ECR Management: lead the preparation and negotiation of commercial responses to ECRs.
  • Profitability & Financial Performance: monitor program profitability, margins and KPIs.
  • Customer Relationship Management: develop strong customer intimacy and follow-up actions.

Your Mission, Roles And Responsibilities

The Programs Sales Engineer is responsible for managing all commercial aspects of customer programs during the development and launch phases. The role acts as the key commercial interface between the customer and internal teams, ensuring program profitability, customer satisfaction, and successful execution of commercial commitments. The Programs Sales Engineer works closely with Program Managers, Engineering, Purchasing, Finance, and Operations teams to support program success while protecting margins and driving business performance.

Main Responsibilities
Program Commercial Management
  • Act as the commercial lead for assigned customer programs during the development phase.
  • Participate actively in Program Core Team meetings and governance reviews.
  • Ensure alignment between customer expectations and internal program objectives.
  • Support program launch activities from a commercial perspective.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customer Purchasing, Engineering, and Program teams.
Engineering Change Request (ECR) Management
  • Lead the preparation and negotiation of commercial responses to customer Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
  • Assess impacts on piece price, tooling, development costs, and investments.
  • Ensure all commercial changes are properly documented and approved.
  • Protect program profitability through effective negotiation and change management.
Profitability & Financial Performance
  • Monitor program profitability, margins, and commercial KPIs throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Analyze risks and opportunities impacting business performance.
  • Identify and implement commercial productivity initiatives.
  • Support recovery of additional costs resulting from scope changes or customer requests.
  • Monitor economic factors impacting program performance such as inflation and exchange rate evolution.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Develop strong customer intimacy through regular interactions and reviews.
  • Prepare customer meetings and ensure proper follow-up of actions.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to customer requests.
Contract & Sales Administration
  • Ensure compliance with commercial commitments and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of pricing, customer agreements, and commercial correspondence.
  • Support purchase order management, invoicing follow-up, and payment monitoring processes.
  • Ensure adherence to Sales Administration procedures.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Program Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Finance, and Operations teams.
  • Ensure commercial decisions are aligned with program objectives and operational capabilities.
  • Support risk management and escalation processes when required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Sales organization.
Your profile and competencies to succeed
Education
  • Master's Degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in Sales, Program Management, Customer Account Management, or Business Development in an industrial B2B environment.
  • Experience in commercial negotiations and customer-facing roles.
  • Automotive industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of program profitability and commercial management principles.
