ALTA Performance Materials in France is seeking a results-driven engineer to strengthen safety, environmental compliance, process improvement and technical support within our production environment. You will lead safety initiatives, manage audits, drive continuous improvement, and provide technical input on CapEx, raw materials approvals, and capacity planning to sustain high-quality production.

This role requires strong problem-solving skills, data analysis using statistical tools, and teamwork

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position within the chemical industry.
  • Fluent in English.

Responsabilités

  • SHE: Ensure safety is the site's top priority and stop unsafe work.
  • Develop and sustain safety culture by enforcing ALTA standards and procedures.
  • Report, investigate, and track corrective actions for incidents and near misses.
  • Define and execute the audit program, including Behavior Based Safety activities.
  • Intervene when rules are not followed; stop work if unsafe conditions exist.
  • Ensure Management of Change processes are completed per procedures.
  • Maintain Asset Care / 5S program compliance and update procedures.
  • Achieve plant quality objectives and investigate non-conforming products.
  • Lead continuous improvement for production processes and metrics (OEE, yields).
  • Provide technical support for CapEx, raw materials approvals, and capacity planning.

Description du poste

Alta Performance Materials France SAS – join a bold new chapter in the composites industry. The role focuses on safety, environmental compliance, process improvement, and technical support within the production environment.

Responsibilities
  • SHE (Safety, Health & Environment): Ensure that safety is the site’s number one priority; stop any work when a situation is unsafe.
  • Develop and sustain a strong safety culture for employees and contractors by complying with and enforcing SHE regulations and ALTA standards (20 Principles, AGNs, Life Saving Rules, etc.) and ensuring procedures and training programs comply with these standards and regulations.
  • Ensure that all incidents, including near misses, are reported, investigated, and that corrective actions are tracked through closure within the area of responsibility.
  • Define and execute the audit program, including Behavior Based Safety (BBS) activities.
  • Intervene directly when individuals are not following rules and procedures; stop work when unsafe conditions exist and inform the Team Leader and/or Department Manager.
  • Ensure that the Management of Change (MOC) processes are completed in accordance with procedures and are responsible for organizational MOCs.
  • Ensure compliance within the area of responsibility with the Asset Care / 5S program.
  • Maintain and update procedures and work instructions within the area of responsibility.
  • Achieve plant quality objectives (FTR, non‑conforming products, customer complaints, etc.).
  • Investigate and implement corrective actions for non‑conforming products and customer complaints.
  • Develop and maintain a continuous improvement plan focused on production processes and quality parameters (cycle time, OEE, yields, utility consumption, reliability, FTR, etc.), including methodologies for tracking and implementing improvement ideas.
  • Provide technical support for special requirements such as raw material approvals, capital projects (CapEx), etc.; make prompt decisions to resolve technical issues.
  • Support operations in identifying resource and equipment needs and ensuring effective capacity planning.
Required Profile
  • Engineering degree, preferably in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position within the chemical industry.
  • Fluent in English.
Technical Skills
  • Experience in defining and achieving objectives, including under tight deadlines.
  • Problem‑solving skills using structured methodologies (Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Good understanding of Process Safety Management.
  • Experience with databases and SAP.
  • Manufacturing cost management.
  • Ability to prioritize and allocate human, financial, and technical resources according to business strategy.
  • Ability to select and arbitrate technical choices regarding equipment, plant layout, and methods.
  • Design modifications to existing processes and installation of new equipment.
  • Lead and manage industrial development projects.
  • Define and select equipment, production rates, and material flows.
  • Evaluate return on investment for implemented projects.
  • Assess the impact of introducing new product lines on processes and work organization.
  • Interpret data and key indicators using statistical and digital tools.
  • Optimize and industrialize manufacturing processes.
  • Standardize testing technologies in development and production.
  • Work effectively in teams and networks.
  • Apply auditing techniques.
