Job summary

CNRS Institut de Recherche en Infectiologie de Montpellier is seeking a researcher to advance understanding of phage-host interactions in Mycobacterium abscessus. The project will identify receptors and resistance mechanisms, involving environmental mycobacteriophages and cross-talk with antibiotics.

The role requires strong molecular biology skills and extensive genomics experience, with work conducted in a Biosafety Level 2 lab in Montpellier.

Qualifications

• Experience with PCR, cloning, and transformation techniques.
• Strong phage biology and mycobacterial biology knowledge.
• Extensive experience in bacterial genomics and sequence analysis.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Identify novel receptors involved in phage recognition.
• Characterize environmental mycobacteriophages and host range.
• Assess lytic activity with/without antibiotics to study synergy.
• Generate bacterial mutants resistant to phages and perform genomic analyses.
• Work in a BSL-2 containment lab.
