Bordeaux Neurocampus seeks an independent postdoctoral scientist to investigate the molecular and cellular pathogenesis of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) within the SynTeam. The project, funded for a Franco-Swiss collaboration, aims to dissect how α-synuclein fibrils drive disease in mice and cellular models using advanced imaging and CLEM.

The candidate will seed α-syn fibrils, study their progression, and identify factors that modulate the 1B polymorph to prevent propagation.

Qualifications

  • PhD required with strong background in molecular neuroscience and experimental neuropathology.
  • Experience with in vivo experimentation including stereotaxic surgery is required.
  • Brain immunohistology and imaging techniques are advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; French not mandatory.

Responsabilités

  • Study the pathogenesis of MSA using the 1B fibril polymorph in primary cell cultures and in vivo models.
  • Investigate fibril origins, cellular environment, and protein interactions to understand propagation mechanisms.
  • Seed fibrils in vivo and in vitro, analyze structure and binding proteins, and assess invasion into neuronal compartments.
  • Identify strategies to prevent fibril propagation and modulate the 1B fold.
  • Collaborate in Franco-Swiss research efforts and contribute to publications.
