Job summary

CNRS, at the PIMM laboratory in France, seeks a researcher to lead mechanical testing experiments using a laser installation, velocimetry, and high-speed imaging. The role focuses on elasto-plastic material behavior under extreme pressures within the Astrid Philae project, collaborating with industrial partners and LULI.

The candidate must hold a PhD in materials under extreme pressure and have hands-on experience with laser-driven shock waves and velocimetry.

Qualifications

  • PhD in materials subjected to extreme pressure conditions.
  • Knowledge of laser-plasma-generated shock waves for mechanical testing.
  • Experience in time- and space-resolved velocimetry.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop experiments for high-rate mechanical testing.
  • Fabricate/assemble samples for laser-driven tests.
  • Adapt or install the experimental setup at the Hera facility.
  • Develop software for data acquisition and analysis if needed.
  • Conduct experiments and collect data with the laser-plasma system.
  • Analyze datasets and relate results to elasto-plastic challenges.
  • Coordinate with project partners and permanent staff.
