CNRS, at the PIMM laboratory in France, seeks a researcher to lead mechanical testing experiments using a laser installation, velocimetry, and high-speed imaging. The role focuses on elasto-plastic material behavior under extreme pressures within the Astrid Philae project, collaborating with industrial partners and LULI.
The candidate must hold a PhD in materials under extreme pressure and have hands-on experience with laser-driven shock waves and velocimetry.

The candidate will conduct mechanical testing experiments on a laser installation, using a velocimeter and an ultra-high-speed camera.
The researcher will be required to:
He/she will act as a principal researcher, assuming full responsibility for each task, in coordination with permanent research staff and project partners.
This position is based at the PIMM laboratory, within the "Laser" group, and is part of the Astrid Philae project. It focuses on the development of mechanical tests conducted at high strain rates and high pressures—generated via laser-plasma—in collaboration with two industrial partners and the LULI laboratory. Experimental campaigns will be carried out using the Hera facility, located at LULI (Palaiseau). The successful candidate will work across both laboratories.
The candidate must hold a PhD in the field of materials subjected to extreme pressure conditions, with a specialization focused on experimental work.
