Job summary

CNRS’ Laboratoire de Physique Subatomique et de Cosmologie (LPSC) in Grenoble invites applications for a first-stage researcher position. The successful candidate will join the ALICE collaboration and lead ML-based b-jet tagging and heavy-ion analyses in RUN 3 Pb–Pb data, with development of a public b-tagging package and close interaction with theory groups.

Three-phase contract (36 months) covers method development, measurement of R_AA and v2, and ultimately the D_s(T) extraction, with access

Qualifications

  • PhD in experimental particle or heavy-ion physics.
  • Strong programming and data-analysis skills in Python/C++.
  • Experience with ML techniques for collider data is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, train and validate a b-jet tagger using graph neural networks and RNNs.
  • Validate the tagger on pp data and adapt to Pb-Pb collisions.
  • Deliver a b-tagging software package and document it publicly.
  • Measure R_AA, v2 and substructure of b-jets across Run 3 data.
  • Contribute to Bayesian extraction of Ds(T) and model comparisons.
