The ESRF in Grenoble invites a postdoctoral researcher to develop multiscale models of deformation and recrystallisation using CPFEM and phase-field methods. You will validate models against 3D experimental data and publish open-source pipelines, collaborating with DTU, KU Leuven and the University of Oxford.

You will handle large datasets, build analysis workflows, and present results at international conferences, contributing to ERC project D-REX and advancing computational materials science.

Qualifications

• PhD in materials science, physics, mechanical engineering or related field.
• Strong command of CPFEM and/or phase-field modelling of microstructures.
• Solid background in physical metallurgy and microstructure analysis.
• Programming in Python and MATLAB; experience on HPC resources.
• Ability to work with large, heterogeneous datasets and build analysis pipelines.
• Familiarity with 3D characterization techniques is welcome but not required.

Responsabilités

• Develop and calibrate CPFEM models of deformation microstructures with grain-level validation.
• Develop PF models of recrystallisation and grain growth using experimental data.
• Validate models against 3D measurements and publish reproducible pipelines.
