Résumé du poste

The ESRF in Grenoble, France, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to develop multiscale models of deformation and recrystallisation within the ERC Starting Grant project D-REX. You will use crystal plasticity finite element and phase-field modelling to describe microstructure evolution and validate against 3D experimental data.

You will collaborate with the Technical University of Denmark, KU Leuven and the University of Oxford, publish results, and release the modelling pipelines

Qualifications

  • PhD in relevant field completed within last 3 years.
  • Strong command of crystal plasticity FEM and/or phase-field modelling.
  • Background in physical metallurgy: dislocation structures, texture, recovery, recrystallisation, grain growth.
  • Programming skills in Python and MATLAB; experience on HPC resources.
  • Ability to handle large heterogeneous datasets and create analysis pipelines.
  • English proficiency; collaboration in international teams.

Responsabilités

  • Developing and calibrating CPFEM models of deformation microstructures with grain-level hardening.
  • Developing PF models of recrystallisation and grain growth from experimental data.
  • Validating models against DFXM, DCT and 3DXRD measurements and establishing reproducible workflows.
  • Publishing results, presenting at conferences, and releasing modelling pipelines as open-source software.
