CNRS - National Center for Scientific Research seeks a First Stage Researcher to advance photo-CIDNP-enhanced NMR methods. You will optimize experiments, develop quantitative protocols, and apply them to complex matrices including foods and lignin-derived products.
The role involves collaboration with LC-HR-MS/MS and EPR groups, leveraging Bruker instruments and an interdisciplinary research environment at École Polytechnique on the Saclay Plateau.

The successful candidate will contribute to the PhotoHype project, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) as part of the JCJC program. The project aims to improve the sensitivity of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) for detecting and quantifying low-concentration compounds in complex mixtures. It is based on photo-induced dynamic nuclear polarization (photo-CIDNP), which combines light irradiation with a photosensitizer to enhance the NMR signals of target molecules. The primary objective will be to develop, optimize, and validate photo-CIDNP-enhanced NMR methods, and then apply them to food matrices and mixtures resulting from the electrochemical depolymerization of lignin.
The successful candidate will join the LCM (UMR 9168) at École Polytechnique, within the school's Department of Chemistry, on the Palaiseau campus of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. The successful candidate will benefit from an interdisciplinary environment combining research themes at the interfaces of chemistry, with a particular focus on the development of analytical chemistry methods and their applications in environmental chemistry, chemical ecology, and health. The project relies on a Bruker Avance NEO 600 MHz spectrometer, light sources, and LC-HR-MS/MS equipment. Collaborations with groups specializing in RPE, natural product chemistry, and the electrochemical depolymerization of lignin further enrich this environment. The laboratory benefits from the advantages of the École Polytechnique campus, located in the heart of the Saclay Plateau—renowned for its scientific excellence—and thus offers a pleasant working environment.
