Jobtailor in Paris is seeking a PIC packaging specialist to own the end-to-end assembly and characterization of PIC-based sensing probes. You will collaborate with photonics and applications engineers, manage supplier coordination, and ensure robust documentation and traceability across all runs.

Candidates should have hands-on PIC packaging experience, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication in English; French is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of industrial experience with PIC-based products
• Hands-on PIC packaging experience
• Experience with PICs, optical fibres and free-space components
• Experience with optical characterization tools (lasers, power-meters, spectrometers)
• Organized and precise; end-to-end workflow ownership with good documentation
• Willing to work across domains and learn new concepts in our field
• Good communication; coordinate with internal teams and suppliers
• Fluency in English; French is a plus
• Nice-to-have: surface spotting or chip functionalization workflows
• Nice-to-have: Raman spectroscopy or laser-based sensing systems

Responsabilités

• Own the physical realization of PIC-based sensing probes from packaging to module characterization.
• Collaborate with photonics and applications engineers and share optical testing duties with the team.
• PIC packaging: fibre-to-chip coupling, thermal and glue considerations.
• Sourcing and qualification of optical components (fibres, filters, isolators, laser sources).
• Troubleshoot optical system issues: coupling, polarization, alignment, signal noise.
• Develop and maintain assembly protocols and complete documentation.
• Characterize chips and perform quality checks before and after packaging.
• Coordinate packaging runs and assembly workflows with subcontractors.
• Act as the technical contact with packaging subcontractors and suppliers.
• Define technical requirements, review proposals, and manage component validation.
• Manage procurement, timelines, and supplier documentation.
• Maintain records to ensure traceability after each run.
• Support cross-functional debugging by documenting changes across runs.
