CNRS invites applications for a joint PhD position focusing on fault-tolerant quantum computing and its applications in chemical and condensed matter physics. The candidate will work within collaboration between LOMA and LaBRI, pursuing algorithm implementation and optimization in a cross-disciplinary environment.

The profile requires a Master’s degree in theoretical physics, chemical physics, or quantum computing, and an interest in numerical methods and simulation.

Qualifications

  • Motivation for interdisciplinary research in physics and computation.

Responsabilités

Offer Description

This project, supported by the Naquidis center, is part of a national dynamic, notably through the PEPR Quantique (French Quantum Technology Program), as well as international collaborations. Industrial partnerships further enrich this environment, providing a stimulating framework for both fundamental and applied advancements.

A joint PhD thesis between LOMA and LaBRI is proposed to develop fault-tolerant quantum computing (FTQC) algorithms for applications in chemical physics, condensed matter physics, and/or high-energy physics. The candidate will work on the implementation and optimization of algorithms tailored for simulating complex physical systems, within an interdisciplinary environment combining theoretical physics and quantum computing.
Profile: Master's degree (or equivalent) in theoretical physics, chemical physics, or quantum computing, with an interest in numerical methods and simulation.
Expected start in October/November 2026 in Bordeaux.
