Ecole Centrale de Lyon invites applications for a PhD thesis focused on modeling interactions of metabolites with chemically modified surfaces in the presence of ions. The project combines molecular dynamics and experiments to explore adsorption phenomena relevant to biosensing of sepsis biomarkers.

Supervised by recognized specialists, the student will learn to handle MD simulations, Python/Matlab data analysis, and SPR interpretation, with a potential teaching component during the grant period.

Qualifications

• Background in engineering sciences, materials science or physical chemistry.
• Experience with Python or Matlab for data analysis and simulations.
• Ability to work at chemistry–mathematics–physics interfaces and on HPC.

Responsabilités

• Model intermolecular interactions between metabolites and a chemically modified gold surface.
• Perform all-atom molecular dynamics on the Newton cluster with the OPLS force field.
• Develop data analysis methods to identify key parameters governing metabolite–surface interactions.
