Maury Regional Health is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team in a full-time role at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. The position emphasizes unit dose distribution, sterile compounding, and outpatient programs.

Responsibilities include operating dispensing systems, prepackaging meds, billing, IV prep, and supporting pharmacists and supervision. Evening and weekend coverage may be required as part of the shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician Certification is required.
• HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of pharmacy experience preferred.

Position Summary

The Certified Pharmacy Technician is primarily responsible for performing routine tasks in the unit dose distribution program, sterile compounding, and the outpatient prescription program. The Certified Pharmacy Technician participates in departmental quality measures, process improvements, and documentation efforts. The Certified Pharmacy Technician assists in capturing charges and credits for medications. The certified technician assists the Clinical Staff Pharmacists and Technician Supervisor as needed.

Responsibilities

• Complete all automated dispensing machine duties/Beacon inventory management system duties including filling, cleaning, cycle counts, and other tasks as required.
• Fills anesthesia kits and records billing for used kits as needed.
• Screens phone calls and directs to appropriate pharmacy staff so that appropriate action can be taken.
• Prepackages meds that cannot be purchased in unit dose packaging including using the ATP packager or WASP system.
• Participates in departmental quality measures, process improvements, and documentation efforts.
• Assists in capturing all charges and credits for medications
• Assists the pharmacists in IV preparation and ensures compliance with sterile technique and USP Chapter 797 and Chapter 800 requirements.
• Fills medication orders accurately and efficiently, following all departmental procedures. This includes patient-specific orders, restocking of ADMs, filling of requisitions, and preparation of crash carts, anesthesia trays, and other medication kits. .
• Notifies supervisor and/or pharmacy administrative staff of any errors or medication-related issues that need to be addressed within the department or with the leadership of other departments.
• Participates in pharmacy projects, process improvement efforts, and all applicable educational updates and competency requirements in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician Certification (Required)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred)
• 1 Year of Pharmacy Experience (Preferred)
