Job summary

SiPearl in Grenoble is seeking an Emulation Engineer to join our R&D team. You will work on emulation setup, RTL adaptation, pre-silicon verification, and develop workflows for our large-scale emulation platform.

You should have at least 6 years of digital ASIC experience, 4 years in emulation, and hands-on skills with C, Python, HDL, and shell scripting. This role offers on-site or hybrid work across France and nearby regions.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to emulation setup: capture needs, define emulator configurations, support compilation, execution and debugging flows.
• Support RTL adaptation for emulation: identify and document RTL changes and collaterals for emulation.
• Participate in verification activities: support pre-silicon verification and validation in emulation environment.
• Develop and maintain emulation workflows: develop and maintain flows and integrate hardware and software collaterals.
• Improve and automate workflows: implement improvements and develop scripts/tools for debugging and user experience.
• Generate and maintain emulation models: build and debug models using EDA tools to optimize execution performance and model size.
• Interact with tool vendors: report issues, follow up on resolutions, test fixes.
• Provide user support: assist engineers using the emulation platform and propose solutions.

About SiPearl…

SiPearl is the European fabless designer of sovereign secure high‑performance energy‑efficient CPUs for HPC, AI and data centres. These CPUs will help address strategic challenges in the fields of security, defence, medical research, energy, climate and engineering with a reduced environmental footprint.

In June 25, SiPearl completed the design of the most complex CPU ever designed in Europe, Rhea1. Featuring 80 Arm Neoverse V1 cores, with 61 billion transistors, it is currently in production at TSMC. Sipearl CPUs will equip the two first European exascale supercomputers belonging to EuroHPC JU: Rhea1 will be integrated into the JUPITER machine based in Germany and Rhea2 will be part of Alice Recoque in France.

Incubated within the European Processor Initiative (EPI) consortium and seed‑funded by the European Union, SiPearl employs almost 200 people in :

• France (Maisons‑Laffitte, Grenoble, Massy, Sophia Antipolis),
• Spain (Barcelona)
• and Italy (Bologna)

Following a €130 million Series A, the company has launched its Series B round.

About the role

At SiPearl, we are developing highly complex multi‑chiplets/multi‑sockets CPUs, based on latest technologies for processors, NoCs and overall architecture. Those need best in class emulation platforms, and that's what our team is proud to provide.

SiPearl owns one of the biggest emulation platform in Europe (in‑house), a dual Veloce StratoM+, with a total capacity of 128 boards (6BGates) and up to 30 concurrent users 24/7.

We even model our physical evaluation board (BMC) to shift left the Firmware and Software development pre‑silicon and validate pre‑tape‑out the entire software stack.

As an Emulation Engineer at SiPearl, you will be at the heart of our projects and R&D, and an enabler for all teams success.

Your missions

• Contribute to emulation setup: Participate in capturing emulation needs and help define emulator configurations. Support compilation, execution, and debugging flows.
• Support RTL adaptation for emulation: Assist in identifying and documenting required RTL changes and related collaterals needed for emulation.
• Participate in verification activities: Contribute to the pre‑silicon verification effort by supporting the emulation environment and validation activities.
• Develop and maintain emulation workflows: Contribute to the development and maintenance of emulation workflows and help integrate hardware and software collaterals.
• Improve and automate workflows: Implement improvements and develop scripts/tools to facilitate debugging and improve the user experience.
• Generate and maintain emulation models: Use EDA tools to build and maintain emulation models, debug issues, and help optimize execution performance and model size.
• Interact with tool vendors: Report issues, follow up on resolutions, and test fixes or new features provided by EDA vendors.
• Provide user support: Assist engineers using the emulation platform, help troubleshoot issues, and propose practical solutions or workarounds.
