European Tech Recruit in Paris is seeking an Optical Device Researcher to contribute to advanced research into next-generation optical devices and technologies for high-capacity communications.

The position is permanent and onsite in Paris, France, focusing on design, modelling, and integration of optical components. A PhD and strong publication record are required, with collaboration across academia and industry.

Qualifications

• PhD in Photonics, Optics, Semiconductor Devices, Microelectronics, Optical Communications, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Strong experience in optical chip design, lasers, modulators, photodetectors, waveguides, or photonic integration.
• Experience taking optical devices from design through fabrication, packaging, testing, or integration is highly advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Research, design, and develop optical chips and devices, including active and passive components.
• Develop technologies spanning lasers, modulators, photodetectors, waveguides, and passive optical circuits.
• Perform modelling, simulation, testing, and data analysis of optical devices.
• Contribute to device integration, packaging, proof-of-concept, and prototype development.
• Support transition of successful prototypes towards product development.
• Participate in joint research projects with academic and industrial partners.

Optical Device Researcher — Photonics / Optical Communications

We are currently partnered with an industry leading research centre in France looking to hire an Optical Device Researcher to contribute to advanced research into next-generation optical devices and technologies for high-capacity communication networks.

This is a permanent opportunity based onsite in Paris, France

Key responsibilities for this Optical Device Researcher position:

• Research, design, and develop optical chips and devices, including active and passive components.
• Develop technologies spanning lasers, modulators, photodetectors, waveguides, and passive optical circuits.
• Perform modelling, simulation, testing, and data analysis of optical devices.
• Contribute to device integration, packaging, proof-of-concept, and prototype development.
• Support transition of successful prototypes towards product development.
• Participate in joint research projects with academic and industrial partners.

Key requirements:

• PhD in Photonics, Optics, Semiconductor Devices, Microelectronics, Optical Communications, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Strong experience in one or more of: optical chip design, semiconductor lasers, optical modulators, photodetectors, passive photonic circuits, waveguide design, or photonic integration.
• Experience taking optical devices from design through fabrication, packaging, testing, or integration highly advantageous.
• Python programming for modelling, data processing, or test automation a plus.
• Familiarity with optical/multiphysics simulation tools such as COMSOL or FimmProp desirable.
• Strong publication record or demonstrated technical achievements.
