Huawei’s European Research Institute in Paris seeks an Optical Device Researcher for communication networks. You will research, design, and package optical chips (passive/active) and collaborate with academic or industry partners on PoC and prototype projects.

PhD in semiconductor/optics or optical communications is required, with strong experience in laser, modulator, detector chips, and high-speed optics. Proficiency in Python and English is essential.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree and possibly additional years of experience in optical chips area, and successful project experience of designing Laser, Modulator, Detector chips, or passive circuits.
  • Significant knowledge and successful experience with optical chip designing, manufacturing, packaging, testing, or integration technology.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with high speed optics such as direct modulation/external modulation lasers, detectors, waveguide design and process, and/or coupling of optics and waveguides and package of optics in the field of optical communication.
  • Some knowledge on Optical Transmission Systems
  • Proficiency in coding (e.g. with Python) for modeling, data processing or test automation.
  • Hands-on experience with optical software (e.g. Fimmprop, Comsol)
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Open mind, good communication and teamwork, and good presentation skills.

The Optical Technology Communication lab (EU Branch) is playing a leading role in researching new technology and delivering specific solution for WDM systems. To strengthen a high level expert team in the European Research Center in Paris, we are in search for an Optical Device Researcher for communication Networks.

Participate academic conference, publish and present latest research achievements in conference or journal, such as OFC, ECOC, JLT, PTL, etc.

This will support your start in our team:

Semiconductor, optics, micro-electronics or optical communications PhD degree with high level publications.

  • PhD degree and possibly additional years of experience in optical chips area, and successful project experience of designing Laser, Modulator, Detector chips, or passive circuits.
