European Tech Recruit is partnering with a leading French research centre to hire an Optical Device Researcher to contribute to next-generation photonics for high-capacity networks. This permanent, onsite role is based in Paris, offering collaboration with academic and industrial partners.

You will design and develop optical chips and devices, simulate and test them, and help transition prototypes toward product development, with a strong emphasis on publication and technical achievement.

Qualifications

• PhD in Photonics, Optics, Semiconductor Devices, Microelectronics, Optical Communications, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Strong experience in optical chip design, semiconductor lasers, optical modulators, photodetectors, waveguides, passive photonic circuits, or photonic integration.
• Experience bringing optical devices from design through fabrication, packaging, testing, or integration is highly advantageous.
• Python programming for modelling, data processing, or test automation is a plus.
• Familiarity with optical/multiphysics simulation tools such as COMSOL or FimmProp desirable.
• Strong publication record or demonstrated technical achievements.

Responsabilités

• Research, design, and develop optical chips and devices, including active and passive components.
• Develop technologies spanning lasers, modulators, photodetectors, waveguides, and passive optical circuits.
• Perform modelling, simulation, testing, and data analysis of optical devices.
• Contribute to device integration, packaging, proof-of-concept, and prototype development.
• Support transition of successful prototypes towards product development.
• Participate in joint research projects with academic and industrial partners.
