Job summary

Eutelsat is seeking a Mission Ops Engineer to join the Service & Operations department for the IRIS2 programme. You will merge Mission Planning and Payload Engineering in the preparatory phase, define operations, and ensure rigorous validation before active operations from the Toulouse Control Centre.

You will collaborate with Flight Dynamics, Service Delivery, and System Engineering teams, supporting training, qualification campaigns, and real-time mission activities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in satellite operations, covering Mission Planning/Scheduling and Payload Engineering/Operations within LEO or MEO systems.
• Strong technical understanding of RF communications payloads, digital processors, and resource allocation algorithms.
• Good experience of Ground stations (Gateways).
• Working schedule capability for 5d/7 - 8h/d plus on-call support.
• Fluent in English with very good written and verbal communication skills.
• EU citizenship and eligibility for EU security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Engineering of Operations & mission preparation: define systems, tools, and operational procedures; contribute to milestone reviews and validation before transitioning to active operations at Toulouse Control Centre.
• Support transition into active operation: participate in training and operational qualification campaigns, support end-to-end, infrastructure, and service qualifications.
• Mission Planning & Resource Optimization: design and implement the mission planning workflow and configure orchestrator resources to optimize link budget and OSS requests.
• Plan, execute, and report on real-time activities such as service activation/deactivation, frequency changes, and throughput upgrades.
• Monitor and report on MCC and satellite transport resources health; propose improvements to maximize system availability.
• Lead anomaly troubleshooting and coordinate with spacecraft controllers and manufacturers.
• ITIL Process Definition & Authoring: design, write, and maintain robust ITIL-based operational processes (Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Fulfilment).
