Job summary

INRAE Lyon-Grenoble Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is seeking a Master 2 or 3rd-year engineering student for a 6-month research internship starting in early 2027. The project, titled “Quantifying stress of chemical pollution in a changing climate: A coupled experimental-computational approach with Gammarus fossarum,” combines in-vivo and in-silico methods.

• Enrolled in a Master 2 or 3rd-year engineering program in ecotoxicology or environmental science.

• Proficient English for team communication.

Job description

We are currently recruiting a Master 2 or 3rd-year engineering student for a 6-month research internship starting in early 2027.

The project is titled: \"Quantifying stress of chemical pollution in a changing climate: A coupled experimental-computational approach with Gammarus fossarum\".

Freshwater ecosystems face compounding threats from chemical pollution and climate-driven pressures (thermal stress, hypoxia). The intern will develop a coupled in-vivo and in-silico approach to evaluate these joint stressors under a model-guided study design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Extract thermal/oxygen tolerance ranges from literature to establish experimental boundaries.
• Execute multi-stress acute ecotoxicological bioassays on Gammarus fossarum.
• Calibrate General Unified Threshold of Survival (GUTS) models using the obtained experimental data.

Candidate Profile:

• Enrolled in an M2 or 3rd-year engineering program (ecotoxicology, environmental biology, or environmental science).
• Previous laboratory experience assisting biological assays or handling aquatic organisms.
• Strong motivation to apply quantitative approaches and computational modelling (experience in R or Python is an advantage).
• Proficient English language skills for team communication.
