Jobtailor is seeking a Head of the Engineering Office to lead engineering teams and steer design choices for maritime projects. You will ensure the quality and compliance of all technical deliverables, while structuring working methods to boost department performance and coordinating design and project teams.

You will oversee all design and development projects, manage costs, schedules, and deliverables with project managers, and drive technical decisions while upholding IP rules.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a general engineering school or equivalent with a specialization in naval architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and automation, or aerodynamics applied to the maritime domain.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in technical project management or engineering coordination.
• Strong technical background, with a solid understanding of engineering processes and product development cycles at evolving TRLs.
• Knowledge of maritime industry regulations is a plus.
• Experience related to sail propulsion systems would be an asset.
• Proficiency in design and simulation software related to the maritime field: 3D CAD, mechanical and hydraulic engineering, electrical engineering, automation.
• Familiarity with the maritime environment (regulations, stability, hydrodynamics) is a plus.
• Technical and conversational English required.

Responsabilités

• Supervise engineering teams and guide strategic choices during design phases.
• Ensure mastery of technical interfaces and maintain compliance and quality of technical deliverables.
• Structure working methods to support department performance and coordinate design and project teams.
• Oversee all design and development projects (products and services) and control drawings, calculations, and documentation.
• Manage costs, schedules, and deliverables of the technical team in collaboration with project managers.
• Make technical decisions and determine major design directions within projects; provide technical support to resolve challenges.
• Ensure compliance with intellectual property rules.
