Job summary

Mistral is hiring an LLM Scientist to push AI-driven discovery, specializing in large language models, agentic AI, and deep learning for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Materials Science. You will empower scientists with cutting-edge AI tools and collaborate across disciplines to translate AI advances into real-world impact.

Qualifications

• Strong background in AI/ML with focus on LLMs, deep learning, or agentic AI and applying these to real-world problems.
• Familiarity with latest LLM architectures and post-training techniques.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX, model optimization and scaling.
• Ability to understand a Natural Science domain at a high level to design AI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Participate in end-to-end training of LLM-based solutions with emphasis on scalability and scientific applicability.
• Design workflows to create high-quality scientific data at scale (synthetic or crowd-sourced).
• Develop and refine reinforcement learning or agentic systems for natural science challenges.
• Collaborate with domain scientists to translate AI advances into impact.
• Contribute to tooling and infrastructure for model training and open-source AI for science.
