Mistral is seeking AI Scientists with deep ML expertise to expand what our agentic tools can do across the engineering lifecycle—CAE and EDA. You will develop the pre- and post-training data for Mistral's LLMs to reason about and execute engineering tasks, shaping verifiers and the agent scaffolding from the ground up.

Qualifications

• Fluent English with excellent communication skills, able to explain ML and engineering concepts to broad audiences.
• Deep, hands-on machine learning expertise, particularly LLM development.
• Demonstrated experience running, debugging, and validating real engineering workflows in CAD/CAE/EDA domains.
• Proficient in Python coding and Linux/HPC environments.
• Self-directed and able to progress without detailed roadmaps.
• Collaborative, low-ego mindset and eagerness to learn at the intersection of engineering and ML.

Responsabilités

• Design pretraining, SFT, and RL data for engineering tasks across CAD, CAE, and semiconductor/EDA.
• Define verifiers and evaluation criteria to capture what is correct and high-quality for each task.
• Design and improve agent architectures and harnesses for multi-step engineering workflows.
• Build evaluation benchmarks and tooling to diagnose model failures and data gaps.
• Collaborate with CAE/EDA domain experts to target high-value workflows next.
• Contribute to Mistral's broader pre and post-training research with findings.
