Job summary

Orakl Oncology is building a scalable omics data backbone to support its AI-powered oncology platform. We seek a data engineer to design storage, access, and lineage for multi-omics data and to partner with the Data & Infra team to ensure fast, reliable model training and experimentation.

You will work with cloud-based pipelines, implement robust data models, and enable researchers to build on a massive, evolving omics corpus while supporting client contracts and internal R&D projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as a data engineer, with ingestion pipelines you built running in production.
• Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD for data pipelines and code libraries.
• Strong data modeling experience: designed schemas that handle evolving identifiers, versioning and lineage.
• Deep relational database expertise: schema design, partitioning, indexing, migrations on a live database.
• Deep cloud infrastructure skills: AWS (S3 and core services), infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent) and containers (Docker).
• Strong experience in Python and SQL; comfortable with Git, CI and the command line.
• Ability to propose architecture choices, defend them and converge with engineering peers.
• Drive to understand omics and to support Senior Bioinformatician when away.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the omics data architecture with the data engineering team.
• Ensure reliable ingestion of processed omics data and metadata.
• Maintain the omics data model with lineage tracking and versioning.
• Develop accessible data layers for researchers and models to support client contracts and internal R&D.
