Job summary

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical architecture of a 5-10 MW SST, including enclosure, rack architecture, IP protection, and vibration/seismic qualification.

You will define enclosure/rack interfaces, own structural and thermal aspects, chair design reviews, and coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing across global data centers. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and scalable deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of IP rating, vibration and seismic qualification.
• Experience integrating high‑power electronics and thermal‑management systems.
• Experience documenting design decisions, assumptions, trade‑offs, risks and technical specifications.
• Experience using engineering analysis and measured evidence to drive decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define the mechanical architecture for the 5-10 MW system and its major assemblies.
• Develop rack/enclosure concepts compatible with high-power electronics and liquid cooling.
• Lead mechanical design reviews and coordinate suppliers/manufacturing for prototype and production parts.
• Coordinate with thermal, electrical and MV/HV teams to align interfaces and requirements.
• Address IP-rating, vibration and seismic qualification and serviceability constraints.
