Job summary

Africa Global Logistics in Île-de-France seeks a seasoned Key Accounts and Operations Manager to lead the HQ Operations Team and oversee local agencies, ensuring top-tier service delivery across the network.

The role focuses on expanding the customer portfolio, delivering market intelligence, and upholding governance and best practices while collaborating with ship owners, operators, and industrial clients.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in shipping industry, mainly tramping activities.
• Proven experience in both commercial and operational management.
• Strong understanding of shipping operations, agency services, husbandry, stevedoring, and maritime practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead HQ Operations Team and monitor performance of local shipping agencies; ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Develop and consolidate customer portfolio to increase market share and revenue; provide market intelligence; ensure governance across the network.
• Contribute to annual commercial action plan; work with local agencies to expand market share and revenue in agency and stevedoring activities; strengthen relationships with key customers.
• Monitor and evaluate operational performance; resolve issues; ensure best practices across the agency network.
• Contribute to budget preparation and support achievement of financial objectives; assist debt recovery and claims management; support pre-funding arrangements and settlements.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports on operational performance and commercial activities; produce bi-annual market reports.

Job description

Mission

The Key accounts and Operations Manager is responsible :

• for managing the HQ Operations team, supporting and monitoring the performance of local shipping agencies, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that meet customer expectations.
• The role also focuses on developing and consolidating the customer portfolio to increase market share and revenue, providing market intelligence, and ensuring compliance with AGL Group policies, procedures, and governance standards across the network.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial Development
   • Contribute to the definition and implementation of the (HQ) annual commercial action plan.
   • Work closely with local agencies to conduct commercial actions aimed at increasing AGL's market share and revenue in agency and stevedoring activities.
   • Consolidate, develop, and strengthen relationships with key customers, including ship owners, operators, traders, and industrial companies.
   • Identify new business opportunities and support business development initiatives across the network.
   • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to provide relevant market intelligence.
2. Operations Management
   • Manage and lead the HQ Operations Team, ensuring high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction. Back up of operations team whenever needed.
   • Monitor and evaluate the operational performance of local agencies, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
   • Support local agencies in resolving operational issues, customer complaints, and claims.
   • Ensure the consistent application of operational best practices across the agency network.
3. Financial Management
   • Contribute to budget preparation and support the achievement of financial objectives.
   • Assist the HQ DA-Desk in debt recovery (FDA balance/SOA) and claims management.
   • Support local agencies on financial matters involving clients such as pre-funding arrangements, SOA settlements, and dispute resolution.
4. Reporting
   • Prepare and submit monthly reports covering operational performance & commercial activities
   • Produce bi-annual market reports highlighting industry trends, customer developments, and business opportunities.

Experience :

• At least 15 years of experience in the shipping industry, mainly tramping activities.
• Proven experience in both commercial and operational management.
• Strong understanding of shipping operations, agency services, husbandry, stevedoring activities, and maritime business practices.
