The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris invites applications for a six-month policy intern in the Global Policy department. You will support advocacy, research and coordination across ICC commissions on Environment and energy, Competition, and Business integrity.

Responsibilities include preparing policy papers, coordinating with commissions and stakeholders, researching themes, drafting minutes, liaising with intergovernmental partners, and assisting with meeting planning.

Qualifications

  • Student status and field of study relevant to economics, international relations, trade or environment.
  • Fluent English with strong writing, analytical and organisational abilities.
  • Meticulous in carrying out duties.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interest in Global Policy work and ability to work in a diverse international team.
  • Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

Responsabilités

  • Assist in preparing policy papers, consultation responses and briefing materials.
  • Coordinate input from policy commissions and external stakeholders.
  • Research background themes and new items for policy work.
  • Draft meeting minutes and summaries for member distribution.
  • Liaise with international organisations and intergovernmental partners (WTO, OECD, UNFCCC, WIPO, WCO, IGF).
  • Support planning and logistics of commission and task force meetings.
  • Engage with ICC national committees and business members across ICC’s network.
  • Provide ad hoc support to other policy commissions as needed.
  • Contribute to the smooth functioning of the team.

The role

We are looking for a policy intern to join our Global Policy department for a duration of six months. Working with our ICC commissions on Environment and energy, Competition, and Business integrity, you will support the team’s advocacy, research and coordination activities.

Your responsibilities and learning opportunities include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of policy papers, consultation responses and briefing materials;
  • Coordinating input from our policy commissions and external stakeholders;
  • Researching background themes and new items;
  • Drafting meeting minutes and substantive summaries for member distribution;
  • Assisting in liaison work with other international organisations and intergovernmental players such as the WTO, OECD, UNFCC, WIPO, WCO and IGF among others;
  • Assisting in the planning and logistics of commission and task force meetings;
  • Liaising with business members and representatives of ICC national committees across ICC’s global network;
  • Lending support on an ad hoc basis to additional policy commissions as needed;
  • Conducting any other necessary tasks required to ensure the smooth functioning of the team.
  • You may have the possibility to attend trainings and conferences taking place in Paris during the internship.

Requirements

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Are a student with academic or work experience in relative fields to the job description (economics, customs, finance, international relations, trade, environment or another relevant field);
  • Are a fluent English speaker with excellent writing, analytical and organisational skills;
  • Are meticulous in carrying out required duties;
  • Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Have strong interest in fields pertaining to the work of the Global Policy department;
  • Are a team player who is interested in working with a dynamic and diverse team while gaining experience in an international environment;
  • Have outstanding communications and interpersonal skills;
  • Are able to work autonomously and with little supervision.

Important information before applying

  • You must still be registered as a student during the time of the internship.
  • The intern must have an appropriate insurance valid in France for any damage caused to a third party (third party liability insurance: “assuranceresponsabilité civile”) and social insurance (illness, work accident, etc.).
  • Nationals from outside the European Union or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Andorra, Monaco, Switzerland or United Kingdom must hold an appropriate visa from the French consulate.
  • Non-EU residents are required to have valid papers before applying (long-stay student visa and/or carte de séjour) allowing them to work in France.
  • Interns are required to handle their own travel and accommodation arrangements for the duration of their internship. ICC does not provide scholarships or fellowships.
  • Based at ICC Global Headquarters in Paris our six-month internship programme is full-time with an average working week of 35 hours.
