CMA CGM Group in Marseille invites applications for an Internship Operations Research Engineer within the Digital Department. You will help design, improve, and integrate optimization algorithms to boost performance and reduce carbon footprint.

As part of the data science team, you will work with operations to identify needs, design models, and implement data flows, aiming to deliver actionable insights through an operational tool.

Internship Operations Research Engineer

YOUR ROLE

As part of the Digital Department of a transportation group, you will help design, improve, and integrate optimization algorithms that contribute to improving the group's performance and carbon footprint.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

As part of the data science department, you will be responsible for:

• Working with operational teams to understand their needs.
• Monitoring technological developments to find the best solution to a given problem.
• Designing and refining an operational research model.
• Identifying the data needed for these refinements and implementing the data flows.
• Improving algorithm performance.
• Analyzing results and producing reports explaining them.
• Describing the approach and presenting it to operational teams.
• Integrating the model into an operational tool and process.

This internship will allow you to develop your skills in Operations Research, as well as in all related fields (business, IT), through a real use case in the logistics sector.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

A specialized academic background and hands-on experience in Operations Research are mandatory requirements for this position.

• Education: Student in the second year of a Master's degree (Master 2) specializing in Operations Research.
• Technical skills: Strong knowledge of constraint modeling/programming; directed acyclic graphs; commercial solvers (ideally Cplex); C++ / Python; collaborative development tools (git); algorithm performance optimization.
• Nice to have: Cloud AWS; SQL.
• Languages: Very good level of English (oral and written) is required.
• Personal qualities: Your curiosity, rigor, and analytical skills will help you succeed in this role.
