Job summary

SiPearl in Maisons-Laffitte is seeking a final-year engineering or MSc student to join the HPC software team as an internship. You will work on libraries compatibility with the Rhea1 architecture, validate features of open-source and internal libraries, and implement optimizations.

You'll gain hands-on experience in parallel programming, SVE vectorization, performance analysis, and testing HPC codes, collaborating with experienced engineers across international teams.

Qualifications

• Final-year engineering student or Master’s degree student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, HPC or related field.
• Strong interest in processor architectures, parallel programming and software optimization.
• Analytical, rigorous and proactive, with good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international environment.
• Good understanding of C/C++ (Fortran is a plus).
• Knowledge on MPI, OpenMP, SIMD.
• Knowledge of CPU architecture (ARM architecture is plus).
• Basics of CI and Linux.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the libraries compatibility with the Rhea1 architecture.
• Ensure full support for the features of open-source and internal libraries.
• Propose and implement optimizations.
• Track issues, features and bugfixes in these libraries and provide patch(s).
• Evaluate and validate work through testsuites, benchmarks and HPC codes (in collaboration with the Benchmarks teams). Possibility to upstream some patches if necessary.

About SiPearl…

SiPearl is the European fabless designer of sovereign secure high-performance energy-efficient CPUs for HPC, AI and data centres. These CPUs will help address strategic challenges in the fields of security, defence, medical research, energy, climate and engineering with a reduced environmental footprint. In June 25, SiPearl completed the design of the most complex CPU ever designed in Europe, Rhea1. Featuring 80 Arm Neoverse V1 cores, with 61 billion transistors, it is currently in production at TSMC. Sipearl CPUs will equip the two first European exascale supercomputers belonging to EuroHPC JU: Rhea1 will be integrated into the JUPITER machine based in Germany and Rhea2 will be part of Alice Recoque in France.

Your missions during this internship
