ProPosition Management Search is seeking an HR Director Retail France. Reporting to the Country General Manager, you will lead the full HR agenda for France within a large retail organization, partnering with business leaders to drive people strategy and strengthen engagement.

You will oversee talent acquisition, development, performance management and organizational transformation, ensuring compliance with local labor law and company requirements while localising global initiatives.

Our client, a leading Multinational Company in the Retail Industry, is currently looking for a:

HR Director Retail France

Reporting to the Country General Manager, the HR Director will oversee the full Human Resources agenda for France, partnering closely with business leaders to drive the people strategy across a large retail organization. The position will play a key role in attracting, developing and retaining talent, strengthening employee engagement, and enabling organizational performance to support sustained business growth and brand excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape and execute the people agenda for the retail business, ensuring strong alignment with business priorities, brand values and local market dynamics.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across Retail, Commercial, Marketing and Support Functions, providing strategic HR guidance to enhance organizational performance and business growth.
• Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, rewards, employee relations and talent retention initiatives.
• Collaborate with business leaders to anticipate workforce needs, strengthen succession plans and build a sustainable talent pipeline to support future growth.
• Champion employee engagement and wellbeing programs, creating an inclusive and motivating environment that enhances commitment and retention across the retail population.
• Drive the development of retail capabilities through targeted training and development initiatives, ensuring employees possess the skills and behaviors required to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
• Partner with leadership teams on organizational transformation and change initiatives, supporting the adoption of new technologies, operating models and ways of working.
• Ensure consistent delivery of HR policies, processes and governance standards, while maintaining full compliance with local labor legislation and company requirements.
• Work closely with global HR and brand leadership to localize and implement corporate initiatives, ensuring a consistent employee experience while respecting market-specific needs.
• Act as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic business discussions and supporting decision-making through people insights and organizational expertise.

Requirements

• Relevant HR experience, within Retail sector
• Proven experience in managing HR for multi-country or large-scale retail organizations, ideally.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills at all organizational levels.
• Deep understanding of retail dynamics, employee lifecycle management, and labor law frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience in talent development, change management, and organizational transformation.
• Ability to work effectively in a matrix and multicultural environment.
• Strategic mindset combined with strong operational execution.
• Fluent in French and English

Location: Paris, France

Annual Gross Salary Range: 90,000 - 110,000 Euro + MBO + Benefits

(Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s skills, experience and seniority)
