What you will do:
  • Reporting functionally to the Head of Trustee and Fiduciary Services (Europe), and to the Head of Securities Service (France) at an entity level, you will lead the growth of the Depositary team and business in France and will demonstrate a high degree of technical Depositary and Fiduciary Services knowledge, operational management, relationship management, regulatory experience and inter-personal skills.
  • Lead the operational and client service for depositary clients for all matters, developing relationships with clients, ensuring all client issues are resolved, setting and maintaining high levels of client service and escalating any potential issues which may negatively impact unitholders, Clients, Funds or HSBC, ensuring all regulatory expectations are adhered to.
  • Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment to ensure good operational, financial and project management, and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures.
  • Lead a dedicated Depositary oversight and control function, ensuring effective oversight of outsourced depositary administrative tasks, acting act as an effective escalation point and providing thought leadership for the Depositary business.
  • Closely collaborate with the relevant stakeholders within Global Trustee and Fiduciary Services (‘GTFS’), and across Markets and Securities Services (‘MSS’) i.e. Sales and Business Development, Client Management, Compliance, Legal and Risk functions and will be a member of the senior leadership team of the Securities Services Business (‘SSv’) in France.
In this role you will:
  • Be responsible for the continual assessment of operational model and risks associated with the role and inherent in the Depositary business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, and the impact of new technology, to ensure the business operates effectively and efficiently and is able to deliver HSBC's strategic goals.
  • Work closely with the various Depositary sites and MSS stakeholders to ensure the Depositary business is provided with all the relevant support to deliver against its strategic objectives.
  • Participate in RFPs, new business sales pitches, approval/assessment of clients’, client service reviews and onboarding activities.
  • Require a detailed knowledge of the Depositary market in France, in particular the Private Assets market and regulations under Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), and the associated regulatory requirements of the industry.
  • Represent GTFS France and engage proactively with the industry forums and Depositary working groups (e.g. France Post-Marche (‘FPM’), etc.).
  • Will be an active member of HSBC European & Trustee Depositary regulatory and technical Committees.
  • Drive and encourage teamwork, set expectations and share best practice, managing, monitoring and coaching the team to ensure that their performance meets the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience.
You should apply if you have:
  • Business degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Extensive experience in the Funds Industry (in the private equity/alternative funds area) is essential; experience in regulatory advisory, compliance or risk management is a strong asset.
  • Thorough understanding of private equity/alternative French funds and regulations.
  • Direct experience of the Depositary function in relation to private equity funds/alternative funds.
  • Able to operate in a dynamic and international environment, results focused.
  • Strategic mind-set and strong analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and a strong risk management mindset.
  • Team player, people motivator and strong management skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with an ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English/French, both orally and in writing; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
